Un tale posticino (dalla faccia talmente incantevole)

E nelle camere del padrone, si sono radunati per la festa
L'hanno pugnalato con i loro coltelli d'acciaio, ma non riuscirono ad uccidere la bestia.

L'ultima cosa che ricordo, stavo cercando la porta
Dovevo trovare un passaggio per tornare dov'ero prima
'Rilassati' disse l'uomo notturno, 'qui siamo programmati per accogliere.
Puoi lasciare la stanza e pagare quando vuoi, ma non potrai mai andartene realmente'

Il testo, allegorico, parla della vita delle rockstar che rimangono prigioniere del music business (in questo caso l'hotel California)il quale, inizialmente, sembra accogliere a braccia aperte i suoi clienti.
La natura astratta della canzone ha spinto molti ascoltatori a fare su di essa delle proprie interpretazioni, che includono affermazioni, diffuse da voci in Internet, sui suoi aspetti satanici, soprattutto in riferimento alla strofa che dice And in the master's chambers - They gathered for the feast - They stab it with their steely knives - But they just can't kill the beast ("e si sono radunati per il banchetto nella stanza del padrone lo trafiggono con i loro coltelli in acciaio ma non possono uccidere la bestia"). La "bestia" è per antonomasia uno dei modi per indicare il Demonio.
